Please ensure the team has sun cream available to be applied to your child throughout the day. We do recommend sun hats to be worn, please ensure these are labelled as many can go missing.
Nursery updates
In the 0-2’s room the children have shown a great interest in dinosaurs! They have been exploring the different marks they can make with them in paint and then cleaning them with lots of bubbles. The children have also enjoyed many trips out and about the local area including a visit to Dallington park sensory garden! The children have also shown lots of interest in making marks with different materials in the environment.
In the 2-4s extended area we have had a fabulous term looking at fairy tales and stories. The children have been very engaged when focusing on stories such as the three bears and the 3 billy goats. The children are now starting to focus on our new topic of growing. This will involve looking at our natural environments and starting to look at where things such as our foods come from! We will also be planting lots in our nursery garden.
We have been very busy in sessional nursery over the last few weeks! We have enjoyed lots of Easter and Eid celebrations which has been really lovely. The team are working on developing the outdoor area and we have recently had a lovely new Mud Kitchen installed by our caretaker Steve! The children have spent lots of time exploring it and making ‘ice-creams’ and ‘hot chocolates’! We have introduced Dough Disco into the nursery which is a really fun way of developing our fine motor skills. We manipulate dough to music and learn new words and actions! Developing fine motor skills has been a big focus in sessional.
Wow moments
We have already loved gaining some of the children's wow moments from home. If you have yet to complete one and you feel you want to let us know a new exciting skill your child can do please let your key worker know and they will be happy to complete a wow star with you.

Staff Training Day
Staff are very well inducted and supervised and have regular appraisals. We close on 3 days per year for staff training.
Our last training day on 22nd October 2021 was our first joint training day as 'Foundations for Children Nursery Schools Federation.' The Federation comprises of Camrose Early Years Centre, Parklands Nursery School, both in Northampton, and Croyland and Highfield Nursery Schools in Wellingborough. The training day was focused on the Early Years Reforms for Education and Care of children aged 0-5 years, published in Sept 21.
These professional development opportunities allow the teachers and practitioners working with your children to be up to date with the most effective teaching and learning strategies that can help all children achieve their full potential. As you can see from the photos there were many opportunities to share and discuss best practice across the four Nursery Schools.
Please see some pics from the day below.
